The Mask of Resistance

The Mask of Resistance

I had been in a bit of an art slump this week. Not sure if its the tapering off my medication, or my emphasis on blogging, but the lines and colors were just coming out blank in my head.

My blogs I feel have been really well done if I say so myself. I just could tell I was locked in and my brain felt free like it hadn't in years, so I could write both raw and thoughful. Hopefully enough people will see it for it to matter.

That said, I decided today I was going to end the slump, sat down with my tablet and got back to basics with the line work and I ended up loving this more than most of my recent pieces. I know I had been on a tear lately with a lot of blood and exploding heads. I actually just got accepted into an Eerie Art Exhibition for Halloween. I was going to use an exploding head one, but I'm closer to using this one as I feel its a bit more thought provoking and maybe not as visceral for a public space.

So I called this one, The Mask of Resistance.

The Mask of Resistance represents the tension between what we hide and what we fight to express. It’s the armor we wear in the face of chaos, but also the reminder that resistance is a form of resilience.

I don't want to say too much about this as that is for each of you to determine what it really means. But my thought process on this was showing chaos and order existing simultaneously while living in a world that doesn't care about us.

There is more I could say about it but I'll leave it at that. The more I look at this, the more I want to use this one in the exhibition and I'll add the other to my print site when the print is ready.

What do you see when you look at this? How does it make you feel and how so?
